đź’Ś Question:
Hi Christy,
I’d love to chat with you as I am so curious to learn about your theology and how you are doing.
⸻
❤️ Pastor Christy’s Response:
Hi there, friend — first, thank you for asking such a kind and honest question. You’d be surprised how many people message me with curiosity but also a little fear, like they’re tip-toeing through a theological minefield wondering if lightning might strike mid-email.
Spoiler alert: it won’t. Not on my watch.
Now, I get this question a lot because people are curious: What exactly does Pastor Christy believe?
Do I still believe in Jesus?
Do I still read the Bible?
Am I still standing on the same gospel truth I once preached from the pulpit?
The short answer: Yes. Absolutely. Maybe even more now than ever before.
Let’s talk about what that means.
⸻
✝️ A Relationship, Not a Religion
I’ve come to realize that what Jesus offered wasn’t religion — it was relationship.
Religion says, “You have to do better.”
Jesus says, “Come to Me.”
In Matthew 11:28, He says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Not, “Come to me when you’ve cleaned up your mess.”
Not, “Come to me after you’ve quit every bad habit.”
Just — come.
That’s what my theology is rooted in: grace.
Grace that doesn’t excuse sin but embraces sinners.
Grace that doesn’t ignore truth but delivers it gently.
Grace that calls you higher but still holds you close when you stumble.
⸻
🕊️ Who God Is
Let’s start at the beginning. I believe in one God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — who created all things, loves all people, and revealed Himself perfectly through Jesus Christ.
Deuteronomy 6:4 says, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.”
That’s my foundation. Everything I believe about faith, forgiveness, and freedom begins with knowing that God is not three competing voices — He’s one heartbeat of love expressed through three persons.
⸻
🙌 Jesus Christ — Fully God, Fully Human
I believe Jesus is the Son of God — fully divine, fully human. He lived without sin, died to take ours, and rose again to give us life.
1 Corinthians 15:3–4 says, “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures… He was buried, and He was raised on the third day.”
To me, that’s not just theology — that’s personal. It means I don’t have to perform for love or earn forgiveness. The cross already settled it.
⸻
đź’ť Salvation by Grace
Ephesians 2:8–9 says, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
In other words, salvation isn’t a paycheck you earn. It’s a present you unwrap.
And that present doesn’t come with a receipt for returns.
When we receive Jesus, He clothes us in His righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21).
He doesn’t just wipe our slate clean — He gives us a brand-new one.
That’s the heartbeat of our church: we are grace-driven, not guilt-driven.
⸻
🔄 Repentance: Turning Toward, Not Running From
For years, I thought repentance meant crying at an altar, begging for forgiveness, and promising God I’d never mess up again. But repentance isn’t about perfection — it’s about redirection.
Acts 3:19 says, “Repent and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out.”
The word repent in Greek is metanoia, which means “to change your mind.”
Repentance isn’t about listing every sin or living in fear of losing grace — it’s about changing your mind from unbelief to belief, from guilt to grace, from striving to resting in what Jesus already finished.
When you repent, you’re not turning from sin to earn God’s love — you’re turning to Jesus because you’ve finally realized He’s the only source of real life.
It’s not about running from hell — it’s about running into His arms.
You’re not repenting to become forgiven.
You’re repenting because you already are.
⸻
🔥 The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit isn’t spooky — He’s a helper.
He’s not Casper the Friendly Ghost; He’s Comforter, Counselor, and Coach.
John 14:26 says, “The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have said to you.”
Every time you sense that nudge in your heart — that’s Him.
Every time you feel convicted but not condemned — that’s Him.
Every time peace shows up in chaos — that’s Him, too.
⸻
đź“– The Bible
Yes, I still believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God.
But the more I read it, the more I see it’s not a list of rules — it’s a love letter from a Father to His children.
2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, correcting, and training in righteousness.” But notice — it doesn’t say condemning.
The purpose of Scripture isn’t to shame us into obedience; it’s to reveal Jesus, who fulfilled the law on our behalf and now lives His righteousness through us.
The Bible was never meant to make you feel small — it’s meant to remind you that you are deeply loved, fully forgiven, and already accepted.
Grace doesn’t ignore truth; it empowers you to live from it.
⸻
⚖️ Freedom and Conscience
One of my favorite chapters in the Bible is Romans 14.
It’s the “mind your own spiritual business” chapter.
Paul basically says, “Each of you stands before God on your own convictions. Stop judging each other over personal choices.”
We believe that — deeply.
We are called to love one another, respect differences, and trust the Holy Spirit to do His job in people’s lives.
It’s not our job to be the Holy Spirit’s assistant — He’s doing fine.
⸻
đź’’ Grace-Driven Community
Living Faith Church isn’t perfect — and neither are we.
We don’t excuse sin, but we don’t shame sinners either.
Romans 8:1 says, “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
We believe transformation doesn’t come from fear; it comes from love.
You can’t guilt people into godliness. You can only love them into life change.
⸻
🌍 The Church and the Kingdom
I believe the Church isn’t a building — it’s a body.
A group of imperfect people with a perfect Savior.
We gather to worship, grow, and go out to make a difference.
Matthew 28:19 says, “Go and make disciples of all nations.”
And while we wait for Jesus to return and fully restore His Kingdom, we live as His ambassadors — bringing heaven’s hope into a hurting world.
⸻
đź’¦ Baptism and Communion
Baptism is our public declaration that we belong to Jesus.
Communion is our private reminder that He belongs with us.
Every time we take communion, we remember His sacrifice, His victory, and the grace that holds us together.
⸻
🌅 How I’m Doing
You asked how I’m doing — I’ll be honest, I’m doing good but growing.
Life hasn’t been easy, but grace has been enough.
I’ve learned that ministry doesn’t stop when your title changes — it just changes form.
I still preach, just not always behind a pulpit. Sometimes it’s through a blog, a video, or a conversation like this one.
Every day I remind myself:
God’s not finished with me — and He’s not finished with you either.
Philippians 1:6 says, “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.”
That means even when you feel like a mess, God’s still making something beautiful.
⸻
Friend, if there’s one thing I want you to take away from this, it’s this:
Grace works where judgment fails.
God’s not waiting for you to be perfect — He’s waiting for you to be honest.
He’s not scared of your questions, your doubts, or your story.
He already knows it — and He still loves you.
